After You Apply — Gaviria Life Insurance Solutions
For new clients

You applied. Here's what happens next.

Thank you for trusting me with your family's protection. Most of what happens now is on the insurance company's side, so here's what to expect, step by step, and what to do if they reach out.

  1. Today

    Your application is submitted

I send your application to the insurance company. You'll get a confirmation from me with the company name and your application number. Keep it with this page.

  2. Usually a few days to a few weeks

    The company reviews it

This is called underwriting. The company confirms your answers, often by checking prescription and medical databases, which is standard for every applicant. Many final expense applications get a decision within days. Larger policies can take a few weeks.

They may call you to confirm a few details or do a short phone interview. That's normal. Answer their questions the same way you answered mine.

  3. When they decide

    You get a decision

Most often it's approved as applied. Sometimes the company offers a different policy type or price. If that happens, I'll explain it in plain English and, if needed, check other companies for you before you decide anything.

  4. On the date you chose

    Your coverage starts

Your first payment comes out on the draft date we picked together, often the day your Social Security arrives. Once that payment goes through, you're covered according to your policy.

  5. A few weeks after approval

    Your policy arrives

You'll receive your policy by mail or email. Read it when it comes. Your policy includes a free-look period printed inside it. During that time you can review everything and cancel for a full refund if it isn't right.

  6. Every year

    I check in with you

Once a year I'll reach out to make sure your coverage still fits, and your beneficiary is still who you want. If anything changes before then, just call me.

Protect yourself from scams. The insurance company or I may call to confirm details, but no one will ever ask you to pay with gift cards, wire money, or give a password. If a call feels wrong, hang up and call me at (908) 560-6700.

Common questions

The insurance company called me. Is that real?

Yes, it's a normal part of the review. If you're unsure, write down the company name and call me before sharing anything. I'll confirm it.

Why do they check my prescriptions?

Every applicant is checked the same way. It helps the company confirm your answers quickly, which usually means a faster decision.

When does my first payment come out?

On the draft date we chose on your application. After that, the same day each month. Your price is set when your policy starts.

What if my application isn't approved?

It isn't the end of the road. Different companies look at health differently, and there are policy types built for almost every situation. I'll go over your options with you.

Can I change my beneficiary later?

Yes. Call me and I'll send you the insurance company's change form. It's usually a single page.

What if I change my mind?

You can cancel during the free-look period printed in your policy and get a full refund. After that, you can still cancel anytime; just call me first so we can talk it through.

What your family should know

Where the policy is

Keep it with your important papers and tell your beneficiary where. A photo of the first page on their phone helps too.

Who to call

When the time comes, your family can call me first. I'll help them file the claim with the insurance company and walk them through it.

What they'll need

The policy number and a certified death certificate. The benefit is paid to your beneficiary once the claim is filed.

Questions anytime

You can reach me directly. I'm here for you and your family for the life of your policy.
